Privacy Policy
Last updated 6 September 2026 · Applies to yoursmartproperty.com and the Your Smart Property console (console.yoursmartproperty.com)
Your Smart Property is operated by Centurion Computers Ltd (the data controller), a company registered in England. We build heating automation for short-let properties; we are not in the business of collecting data about you beyond what the service needs to work. We do not sell personal data and we do not run advertising. The marketing site uses Google Analytics (see below); the console itself carries no analytics or tracking.
What we collect
- Account details — your name and email address, either entered at signup or provided by Microsoft or Google when you choose to sign in with them.
- Property details — the property name and location you give us (the location is used to fetch local weather so preheat timing can adapt to outside temperature).
- Booking calendar events — when you connect a booking calendar (Airbnb, Booking.com, Vrbo, Google Calendar or similar) by pasting its iCal address, we read the events on that feed: dates, and whatever the platform puts in the event title (this may include a guest's first name). We use this solely to know when the property is occupied or due to be.
- Device and energy data — temperatures, device states, battery levels and energy readings from the smart-home and solar accounts you link (for example Hive, tado°, Honeywell Home, SmartThings, Shelly, Aqara, SolaX). We store the access tokens those services issue so we can operate your devices on your behalf; we never see or store your passwords for those services.
- Billing details — payments are handled by our payment processor, Mollie. We keep invoice records; we never see or store your card number.
- Technical basics — a session cookie to keep you signed in, and standard server logs (IP address, time, page requested) kept for security and troubleshooting.
- Marketing-site analytics — yoursmartproperty.com (this site, not the console) uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use the site: pages viewed, approximate location, device type, via cookies set by Google. The console has no analytics or advertising cookies.
Sign in with Google or Microsoft
If you sign in with Google or Microsoft we receive only your verified email address and basic profile (your name). We do not request access to your contacts, files, mailbox or calendar through your sign-in. Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
What we use it for
- Running the service: matching your heating to your bookings, preheating before check-in, and turning things down when the property is empty.
- Service emails: alerts you have asked for (for example a property that will not reach temperature before check-in), billing notices, and replies to your support requests. No marketing without your consent.
- Billing for your subscription.
Our lawful bases under UK GDPR are performance of our contract with you, and our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and working.
Who we share it with
Only the processors needed to run the service: Mollie (payments), our hosting providers (servers located in the UK/EU), Microsoft (for sending service email), and Google (analytics on the marketing site only). When you link a smart-home or calendar service, we exchange data with that service at your instruction. We never sell or rent personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers.
How long we keep it
For as long as your account is active. Close your account (or ask us to) and we delete your personal data, device history and calendar data; encrypted backups age out within 14 days. Invoice records are kept for the period UK tax law requires.
Security
All traffic is encrypted in transit (TLS). Access tokens for linked services are held server-side and never exposed in the browser. Access to production systems is limited to Centurion staff who need it.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict processing, and take your data elsewhere. Email hello@yoursmartproperty.com and we will respond within a month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we will note it here and email account holders. Questions? hello@yoursmartproperty.com.
